Based on the popular horror film series, this was the official Saw Experience for London. Audience groups were split into teams and pulsed though a series of rooms where they played gruesome escape room style games in each, culminating in a finale where the entire group reunites. Just like the films, the game dealt with the consequences of your actions.
The System
Our show control system provided audience flow control for all 4 “runs” at the same time, controlled all the automation, electronic games, timer, hints, video and CCTV systems, whilst cueing the lighting and sound depts. Unlike most pulse model games, we needed to track the groups throughout the experience and record the decisions they made along the way. This meant that when they reached the finale it was customised to their unique journey by not only dynamically changing the game, but also recording and replaying video moments from the previous rooms.
Our system made the game very easy to operate with custom dashboards which showed progress, contained overrides, hint system, CCTV feeds and oversaw audience control by using a custom flow controller. Operators just had to enter the team size, what run they were in, hit go and COGS took care of the rest. The system could also keep the flow regulated despite different teams completing at different speeds.
The result was a spectacularly sinister adventure, which saw teams sacrificing their team mates to furnaces, forming human chains to pass electricity and moving pig carcasses to balance scales. Nasty.
